Witnesses sought to robbery at Latham Handy Mart

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery which occurred in Latham yesterday (Tuesday, March 17).

About 4.30pm, a male entered the Handy Mart store, located at the Latham Shops on Dalley Crescent. The male was carrying a knife and demanded cash from a staff member.

The staff member complied with the man’s demands and the offender fled the store along with a mobile phone and IPad.

The male offender is described as being in his early 20’s and was wearing black pants and a hooded top.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information that could assist police to contact ACT Region Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via https://act.crimestoppers.com.au.

ACT Policing has arrested and charged a 17-year-old male youth for aggravated robbery following information provided from the public.

About 4.30pm (Tuesday, March 17), a male entered the Handy Mart store, located at the Latham Shops on Dalley Crescent. The male was carrying a knife and demanded cash from a staff member.

The staff member complied with the man’s demands and he fled the store along with a mobile phone and IPad.

Belconnen Officer-in-Charge, Station Sergeant Greg O’Ryan said information from the public was critical in the apprehension of the alleged offender.

“This incident demonstrates how important information from the public to Crime Stoppers and social media can be,” Station Sergeant O’Ryan said.

“When the public and police work together we help create a safer community.”

The 17-year-old male youth will appear in the ACT Children’s Court this morning charged with aggravated robbery.
