Witnesses wanted for William Slim collision

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses in relation to a two vehicle collision which occurred on William Slim Drive, McKellar around 4.00pm yesterday (Tuesday, March 15).

The collision occurred near the intersection of William Slim Drive and Dumas Street, and involved a black Holden Barina and a grey Mitsubishi Outlander.

The occupants of the Holden Barina, a 24-year-old Hawker female who was driving the vehicle at the time and a 21-year old Bruce female were conveyed to hospital. The driver of the vehicle sustained significant injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander did not sustain any injury and is assisting police in their investigation.

That’s an evil intersection. People coming out of McKellar and turning right onto William Slim end up in a very short merging lane. That doesn’t sound real tricky, but the main problem is that it’s unlike any other intersection I know of, and people just seem to get confused and make bad decisions. I lived next to that intersection for three years, and regularly had to jump my back fence to help people out after hearing the sounds of impact. No fatalities in that time, thankfully, but I wouldn’t have been surprised.
