Woden pizza fire

ACT Fire & Rescue are currently on scene at the Woodfire Pizza and Pasta Bar, Bradley Street, Phillip working to extinguish a fire.

Area has been evacuated as a precaution whilst crews conduct firefighting operations.

Three fire pumpers on scene as well as the Bronto Skylift Hydraulic Platform, The Breathing Apparatus Van and a command officer.

Update to follow.

11:18 AM

Fire has been extinguished.

Crews are investigating smoke spread, water damage and the cause of the fire.

ACT Ambulance Service also on scene supporting operations with no injuries reported.

Time of Emergency triple Zero (000) call 10.57am.

11:46 AM

Fire started in a flue which exhausts the woodfire pizza oven.

Substantial water and smoke damage contained to the restaurant only, with fire damage to the exhaust system.

It’s next door to the dry cleaner that leaked carbon monoxide from its boiler into the aircon system upstairs. http://the-riotact.com/gas-in-woden/92241

Isn’t this the same way that the Diamant Hotel fire started?

We need to revive the old profession of chimney sweepers, but without using children.

Yep. Seems that some serious regulation into wood fired o end needs to happen.
