A 21-year-old Belconnen woman faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday (27 October) for drink driving charges after she caused a three-vehicle collision in Higgins on Friday night (26 October).

Around 8:30 pm, police responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Kingsford Smith Drive and Southern Cross Drive in Higgins, where a Ford Kuga had collided with another vehicle which had been pushed into a third vehicle.

The 21-year-old, who was subject to a zero blood alcohol limit, provided police with a sample of breath at the scene and returned a positive reading.

The woman was taken to Belconnen Police Station where her breath analysis returned a result of 0.217, more than four times the legal limit of a full licence holder.

Police placed the driver under arrest and she was taken to the ACT Regional Watch House. She faced court on Saturday charged with drink driving and breaching bail conditions.

Anyone who may have dash cam footage or any information that could assist police can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
