Woman dies after motorcycle crashes in Snowy Mountains

A woman has died after she was critically injured when her motorcycle crashed in the Snowy Mountains region on Sunday.

A 60-year-old woman was riding on the Snowy Mountains Highway, Kiandra, about 2 km south of the Links Road, about 10:40 am (3 November 2024), when her motorbike left the road and went down a small embankment.

NSW Ambulance attended and treated the woman for serious injuries, before she was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition.

Police have been told the woman died in hospital later that day.

Officers attached to Monaro Police District responded and commenced an investigation.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

The woman was the second female motorcyclist to be killed on Capital region roads in a matter of days.

A 33-year-old woman died following a single vehicle accident on Lady Denman Drive on Thursday night.

About 9:30 pm on 31 October 2024 police and emergency services were called to an accident involving a motorbike on Lady Denman Drive near Scrivener Dam.

The motorbike had left the roadway and hit a roadside barrier.

First aid was provided by witnesses and attending police before the 33-year-old female rider was transported to hospital by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics. She was in a critical condition.

Sadly, the woman died on Friday, 1 November 2024.
