This is a women’s self defence course held over a period of 12 weeks by Krav Maga Canberra’s chief instructor, Dave Sargent. I attended the last women’s self defence class and found the Krav Maga techniques very useful and easy to learn.

Date: Starting on Tuesday evening the 27th of September and running every Tuesday night up to and including the 13th of December 2011. Start time is 7.30 pm finish at 9.00 pm. Please turn up early on the first night as there is some paper work to be completed.

Location: The gymnasium at the Canberra College Phillip Campus on Launceston Street, Woden. (map)

Cost: $220.00 pp to be paid in cash on the night prior to commencement of training.

Details: A 12 week course for women and their partner if they wish to attend so that you can train in a realistic way with somebody who is bigger or stronger than you. Women on their own or women with a partner male or female only. The course will cover a variety of material ranging from basic striking, releases from common chokes and holds while standing to situations on the ground dealing with sexual assault positions. There will be some drills throughout the course to put your training into practise in a realistic manner.

If you are planning to attend or have any question regarding the course please contact Krav Maga Canberra by email (dave@kravmagacanberra.com.au).

I too did the last women’s self defence class – partnered my girlfriend. Absolutely fantastic, coming from a BJJ background but wanting something practical for HER, this hit the nail on the head. Thoroughly recommend.

AlpineViper – yes if you were to partner your girlfriend you would need to pay your way too. It’s pretty straightforward, no unaccompanied males i.e. males only allowed if attending with a female.

” A 12 week course for women and their partner if they wish to attend so that you can train in a realistic way with somebody who is bigger or stronger than you. Women on their own or women with a partner male or female only.”

This is a bit confusing (leaving aside the part where the partner may only be male or female).
Does it mean that women may bring their partner/spouse? This person would also presumably pay the $220 fee?

I’ve done a few years of martial arts and a self defence course is something I’ve been advising my girlfriend to consider.
