Our Sources generally comes across all sorts of interesting news items and this one is no exception. In it, Wonderboy Smyth gives the goverment a serve for not being more supportive of small businesses like Toast, currently the subject of an Office of Fair Trading enquiry into a noise complaint.

Normally you’d expect this investigation to be done by the Environmental Protection Authority, but when has Stanhope ever had to follow his own regulations.

my original link worked lod, its just hard to differentiate the change of colour text. scroll your mouse over the ‘this’ word on the first sentence.

Apparently the noise standard Brian’s being held to is one which the Canberra Times fountain on City Walk fails.

Big problem for the mighty plans of mixed use living in Civic West.

There was a story about Toast in today’s CT but I don’t really remember what it said (that was all the way this morning ago). Something about the owner of Toast who’s name I also can’t recall complaining about the unfairness of it all. I do remember that he said the ETA people had only measured the noise at his club for 10 minutes on three separate occasions, but i couldn’t figure out whether this was a good or bad thing.
Maybe someone else has a better memory than me.

has anyone ever paused to think about how readily interchangeable ‘Stanhope’ and ‘Smyth’ would have been in this article if the last election had come out differently.
