Working and parking at Westfield Woden

Dear everyone,

I have just recently moved to Canberra from Sydney to work at Westfield Woden. I did some research and it seems like there is no staff parking in Westfield. Where could I park if I work in Westfield and what will be the cheapest option?

Thank you

There are lots of small roads off Townsend Street in Phillip which is only a 10 min walk from Woden, some of which have free parking if you can get there before 8. Any later then head to Parramatta Street which is a bit further to walk but free all day.

The daily rate in most outdoor carparks is $9.50 such as on Furzer St and near the pool. I think across the road behind the inside out building on Easty St is $7 or so. check http://au.parkopedia.com/parking/phillip_woden/ for a map and outdated prices. There are also park and ride spots at Mawson and Curtin you might want to check out.

You can buy a block ticket from the shopfront which cheapens it and if you park further afield the price lowers but parking in the town centre is not cheap. Be aware that some spaces are limited time as well. As an example the car park by the Hellanic club has 4 lanes i think for all day parking, the rest is part time. I also park so i dont have to walk through the bus station, it really is a disgrace to Woden, i would not call it unsafe, unsavory maybe.

Staff parking for Westfield Woden is on the rooftop of the carpark opposite Hoyts. You will need proof of you employment in the centre (a payslip will do) to take to the Customer Service Desk (in the walkway, inbetween Mazzucchellis and Micheal Hill Jewellers). They can issue you a reloadable parking staff pass. It’s a pain to get your car when it rains, but it’s cheaper and easier then the other parking options in Woden.

It’s very difficult to find parking in the Phillip area in Woden because it is a busy town centre. There are pay parking options around the town centre. The charge is about $9 for daily parking. There are a lot of buses stopping at the Woden bus station, therefore, if finding a car park is difficult, another option is to take a bus there. There are some Park and Ride designated carparks around Canberra for long term parking for bus travel.
