Dare you brave the cold Canberra morning?

These walks will occur during the first week of every month until the Copenhagen Conference in December. Growing in numbers each month, we will show the government how concerned the residents of Canberra are about the lack of coherence from Rudd/Wong and climate change groups in not recognising nuclear power as a secure source of energy that is significantly cleaner than coal burning.

This walk is part of a campaign, in the lead up to the Copenhagen Conference of Parties, to push for a just international agreement to tackle the growing problem of securing future energy sources.

#12 +1 Good on you!

This is all about leading up to Copenhagen where an international agreement will be made. We must let the decision makers see that this is an important issue to a lot of people – not just the ones with financial interests either.

Is it not the job of the people to tell the government what we want and what is important to us? After all they are the people’s representatives.

If we don’t take the time to show how important this is to us, then government can rest on their laurels and we will get a half arsed response where we need strong direction and action.

And Thumper – if I could change those things, I would. However as you say, it is government who does this, and I don’t think any of them will be taking the easy way out by wearing red and walking around with a placard.

Government won’t change anything without pressure – and where that pressure comes from is something we, as individuals, can affect.

So please tell me – how else do we get government to make strong decisions in this world of apathy and responsibility pushing? What we are doing isn’t much – but it is something.

Yeah!

You’ve hit the nail on the head Thumper. Even in the cold hard sober light of day this poncing about in red still looks like just another wank-fest.

Getting fit will just realease all that stored carbon. I’ll bet they dont get one percent of Canberra’s population to turn up to the last one – there aren’t 3500 Canberrans who are that gullible.

to push for a just international agreement

By that you would obviously mean China and India signing up for first world targets … and recognition through generous concesions of Australia’s vitale role in energy security for the developing world – or do you have your own la-la-land hair shirt targets? It’s pretty easy to sit and pontificate about what we should be doing when you’re gorging yourself on the tax-payer teat sunshine.

Burn copies of “An Inconvenient Truth” to stay warm.

But if I exercise to reduce my body weight, I exhale additional carbon dioxide, and the environment suffers.

What to do…?

Dare you brave the cold Canberra mornings?

Hippies going for walks in red jumpers won’t change the weather. Just like that Canute bloke had a problem with the tide.

And, as we’re told by the Penny that the science is settled and there is scientific consensus (hahahahahaha), why do we need to have these self aggrandising “look at me” events?

Gorebull warming (or climate change when there’s no warming) is so last week.

Obesity is the new black. Get onto that bandwagon. You’re probably too late for Babe-Flu. It’s run is over.
