For those that didn’t know, this Thursday 5 June 2008 is World Environment Day and there will be a bunch of different activities and presentations on around Canberra to raise awareness.

See below for a list of events.
If I’ve missed any please post them in.

CIT Celebrates World Environment Day
Thursday 5th June, 12-2pm
Bruce Campus Quad
You can measure the size of your footprint by using the greenhouse calculator, record your footprint on the hand and footprint mural or test your knowledge in the environmental trivia challenge. Everyone Welcome. Link to website.

ACT otherWISE Celebration of achievements and launch of the booklet:
‘ACTing Otherwise, Young people in the ACT region creating sustainable communities’
This event will showcase the environmental contributions of youth in the ACT community.
Date: Thursday, 5th June 2008
Time: 4pm to 5pm
Venue: Legislative Assembly Reception Room, London Circuit, Canberra
The event will include:
· A Launch of the booklet ‘Acting Otherwise’ by Mick Gentleman MLA;
· Speeches by involved ACT otherWISE youth about their projects; and
· A screening of the documentary ‘Uranium: What Lies Beneath’ by local Canberra producer and ACT otherWISE youth, Mary McCartney.

The ANU Sustainability Learning Community presents the third annual Great Green Debate
on World Environment Day – Thursday 5 June 2008, 7:30pm
The Role of Business in Shaping a Sustainable Future
Panellists include: Mr Tom Snow Executive Director, Canberra International Airport
Dr Royston Gustavson, Lecturer, ANU College of Business and Economics
Mr Ramsay Moodie, Director Corporate Affairs, Fuji Xerox Australia
Mr Graham Tupper, National Liaison Officer, Australian Conservation Foundation Panel Chair:
Dr Robin Tennant-Wood, Director, Canberra Environment and Sustainability Resource Centre All events to take place in Bruce Hall, Building 40, Daley Road, ANU
Panel discussion to begin at 8pm. Refreshments from 7:30pm in the dining hall.
No charge for the event. All are welcome. No RSVP required.
