ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted robbery at the North Lyneham Mini Mart yesterday evening (Thursday, September 5).

Around 7.30pm a man entered the store, removed a can of drink from the fridge and approached the counter.

The alleged offender then withdrew a small knife and threated the shop attendant demanding them to empty the cash register.

The shop attendant then activated the store alarm which caused the offender to flee on foot.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 6 feet (183cm) tall with a slim build.

He was wearing black wrap around sunglasses, a navy blue hooded jumper with white draw strings, dark grey shorts and grey sandshoes with white socks.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

‘presented’ is ok – quite pleasant.

‘introduced’ takes that aggressive edge off it, I think.

So many options. You’d think they could have hit a correct option just by chance.

If he’d had a gun he would’ve presented it. Not sure if that applies to knives though.

Pepsi Zorro.

Why was the shop attendant “demanding them to empty the cash register”?

I thought that was was robbers did.

We will draw a veil over the inappropriate use of a gerund plus pronoun instead of a verb.

My 4th grade teacher would have been appalled by this sentence.

they could confuse wielded with welded

Maybe producing a knife might involve a little welding?

they could confuse wielded with welded

Should we also worry about “threated” or the use of “them” to refer to a single attendant?

Davo already did that!

Waved!

Unsheathed? Fetched forth? Flaunted?

From a bank? Traditionally knives are pulled, drawn, brandished, flashed, or wielded.

Possibly ‘produced’? Although that sounds like he set up a forge.
