Shane Rattenbury has announced a piddling $200,000 will be spent on a pathway from Civic to Parliament House:
Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury, today joined Federal Minister for Regional Australia, Local Government and Territories, Catherine King, to announce the start of works on a dedicated pathway between Canberra’s city centre and Parliament House.
“I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to celebrate the start of works on the Parliament House Walk alongside Minister King today,” Mr Rattenbury said.
“The Australian and ACT Governments are jointly funding this $200,000 project which will provide a 3.4 kilometre guided path from the Jolimont Centre in the City through to new Parliament House. The Australian Government gifted $100,000 to the ACT Government in the 2012-13 Federal Budget, in recognition of our centenary year.
Minister King said that the path will encourage locals and visitors to appreciate both the historical and contemporary faces of the Nation’s Capital.
