The Canberra Times informs us that the parkland between Commonwealth and Kings Avenues is set to be ravaged with redevelopment despite being wildly popular just as it is.
Some lip service is being paid to not messing with things too much:
“NCA chief executive Annabelle Pegrum said the competition would help create public spaces with improved amenities.
“Heritage values and special places and features, such as Blundells Cottage and the national monuments will be protected,” she said.
“The features you love about Commonwealth Park will be retained and it will be better integrated with Kings Park.”
Who would rather the money be spent on green and open spaces thoughout the whole of the city rather than the one mega park by the lake?
