Minister for Tourism Andrew Barr has kicked off a half million dollar ad campaign to entice visitors to Canberra over winter.

The $570,000 Wrapt in Winter campaign is a partnership between the ACT Labor Government and the ACT and region’s tourism industry.

The campaign, now in its third year, takes a perceived negative about Canberra – our cold winters – and turns this into a unique reason to visit our city.

The fact is that the cooler months provide unique experiences including in our fantastic luxury hotels, restaurants, attractions, night spots, wines and produce.

Based on extensive market research showing that short breaks are becoming a more popular form of holidaying amongst Australians, this year’s campaign encourages couples and families to take their short break in Canberra.

There’e even a peculiar website apparently based on a puzzle game.

“The fact is that the cooler months provide unique experiences including in our fantastic luxury hotels, restaurants, attractions, night spots, wines and produce.”

This statement is not fact, it is opinion (and poorly written). It also suggests that the hotels, restaurants, attractions, (etc) offer experiences that differ by season. Anyone else doubt the validity of this claim? Seems like turd polishing to me.
