Tuggeranong Festival is now official more street than you.

Love them or hate them, there’s no denying that there is a bunch of great talent in Canberra’s urban art scene, and that talent is going to be on display at the Tuggeranong Festival. Suppoting the artists will be a selection of Canberra’s finest DJ’s doing that DJ thing that they do.

They’re also willing to teach you how to spray paint, so go get some education in you.

Write it Up! will take the valley’s vibrant art and culture scene to the next level by inviting families to discover their inner creative with a 22 meter paste up wall. No experience is needed to participate and all materials are free.

Write it Up! aims to raise the profile of street art and graffiti in Canberra. Canberra has more legal graffiti walls per head of population than anywhere else in Australia, which has led to a unique underground culture of high end street art and graffiti.

Local graffiti artists Byrd, Atune, Ritps Delm, Goodie, George Rose, Angus Coleman, Voir, Abyss, KWAM, Hugo and Dgks will do painting demos throughout the day.

Write it Up! organiser Geoff Filmer says “If you’ve never picked up a spray can before or if you’ve been bombing for 30 years, this will be a place to just enjoy being a part of live Street Art.”

“We’re really lucky to be supported by Relationships Australia. They’ve donated more than 400 cans of paint,” says Filmer. “We can’t wait to see what the Canberra community can create with that!”

Hip Hop Live! will run in conjunction with Write it Up! DJ Lezz, DJ Krumb, DJ Old Skool Al, DJ Ill K Keegz (beatbox), Myronizinfectious, Talezfromthaunderground, Eitha, Veeboss and F Dot and BRB will blast hip hop tunes through Tuggeranong Skate Park from 11am-9pm.

Write it Up! and Hip Hop Live! will be at the Tuggeranong Skate Park on Saturday 23 November.
