Yarralumla residents seem to be opposed to any sort of development at all according to the ABC.

Given that the area seems to already include a large number of embassies and given the suburbs proximity to the Parliamentary precinct it seems to make sense to locate the additional embassies in Yarralumla.

Yarralumla already has plenty of open space so I don’t understand the uproar. Oh yeah of course stupid me, Nimbies…Unfair call?

“The National Capital Authority (NCA) has agreed to dump controversial plans to allow up to seven embassies to be built on part of Stirling Park in Canberra’s south.

Residents in Yarralumla had been vigorously fighting a proposal for part of the popular lakeside park to become diplomatic accommodation.”

Use an abandoned petrol station in the suburbs.

The call-in powers of ACT Government ministers are not at all relevant to this case, which is in the baliwick of the National Capital Authority, an agency of the Federal Government.

So are they deeming this area a proper park or will developers move in soon?

He uses the call-in power for developer mates, not foreign embassies!

Which is it? Is Labor an enemy of developers (Change of use charges) or too close to developers (Inappropriate call-in use)

You libs should pick a story and stick with it.

Oh, wait. You don’t need to, you’re in opposition so you just need to oppose. Silly me.
