'Yes Minister' Alive and Well

The CT has a report on ACTION requiring 50 additional drivers to service the new, revised timetables to be introduced when the stars align with Venus.

It’s all our fault of course. Comrade Hargreaves slashed services and staff over an eight month period as soon as he took up responsibility for ACTION. When his brilliant plan was shown to result in overcrowding, late running and loss of patronage, he decided to call for submissions on how to fix it.

Low and behold, we required more services and busses. “This problem occurred because we responded to community demands” (Hargreaves/CT).

Questions by the CT to ACTION regarding the loss of staff/redundencies involved in Hargreaves mini pogrom could not be answered “on privacy grounds”. So on the same grounds we should not be privy to the number of road deaths, number of ACT prisoners in gaol, number of public housing tenants, or any other number the ACT Gov holds.

The arogance of this man, and this Gov, is becoming overwhelming.

See, i’d volunteer to do the weekends, it’d be fun, but I don’t have a MR licence. To go and get one would cost me money to buy the training from whatever truck-teaching company teaches them. If ACTION were really so desperate, they’d recruit likely people and train them themselves. They could make people sign an indenture, undertaking to drive for ACTION for a specified minimum time after qualification, so ACTION would get their money’s worth (and a payout amount if the person left before the period expired).

It’s just bad management.

ACTION: Another example of what happens when drunk politicans escape Queensland.

So, because I have HR on my licence I can become a part time Action bus driver, and drive one of those huge articulated things? Cool.

All you non-indicating, mobile phone talking car drivers and “every road has at least four lanes” motorcyclists better be looking over your shoulders for the big orange Evil express…..

Being a pedant…it’s ‘Lo and behold’

ACTION spell it buses!

I thought they were buses…
I double checked on internet dictionary and it seems to be spelt both ways!
Maybe one is an American spelling?

ant, it takes a bit of effort (and $$$$) to get an unrestricted “MR” licence these days. By wanting an “MR” it means the are cutting out the heavy vehicle training part of the process and will focus on the particular skills to operate a bus, like how to stop at a bus stop and take fares etc. Only the articulated buses require a higher licence grade (“HR”).

The busses they sold off wouldn’t be helping either. During the cuts we had to have cos we had a massive deficit / oops surplus.

ACTION evidently aren’t serious about getting more bus drivers. On their ads for weekend drivers, they demand that applicants have a “medium rigid” licence. I take that to be a small bus or non-articulated truck. If they were really wanting people, they’d have a proper training program.

And further to the above.

Hargreaves announced the introduction of compulsory micro-chipping of dogs and cats late last week. He lamented the enormous stress placed on departmental staff when witnessing the euthenising of unidentified pets.

This from a man who considers driving Brahms and Liszt down the Parkway, with the massively increased likelihood of serious, if not fatal results for himself, and his fellow man, as unworthy of mention. Does he have the same consideration for the Police, Ambos’, Firies and medical staff who would have to sort out the resultant carnage?

It has reached the stage where virtually every utterance by this man is diametrically opposed to my own views. Arogance personified!

On the ACTION website they’re asking if people are interested in driving busses either on weekdays or weekends. I wonder what qualifications you need?
