Yoga in Canberra?

I’m looking for a yoga class that’s very gentle, as I’m recovering from surgery and have a weak right shoulder as a result.

Preferably northside, but I’m happy to travel for the right place.

It would need to be outside of work hours.

I identified a place in Torrens (but the class times don’t suit) and somewhere in Turner but haven’t been able to get in touch with the person running the classes….

I would reckon to go for physio if you are recovering from an injury

Hello,
I do a very gentle, flowing and restorative type of yoga (Dru Yoga) on Monday evenings in Hawker. ANd it’s suitable for beginners.
Please go to http://www.humanhappiness.com.au if you would like to find out more.
Every movement can be modified to suit your shoulder injury.
Best wishes with your search!
Kind Regards,
Kylie

Thanks for the advice everyone. I ended up going with Yoga Mandir in Braddon, and so far so good. I really like their philosophy which encourages use of props if you have physical limitations. Everyone works to their own level so it is as challenging as you want it to be. It seems to be the perfect way to gently build up some strength.Thank you to markb for the recommendation.

I recently did a beginners course with http://flourishyoga.com.au/ the classes are quite small and you can work to your own level.

I also did one a while back with CIT short courses at Dickson college which was super gentle (a bit too gentle for me).

Have you considered using e.g. the Yoga Studio iPad app? Ms plausibly_deniable and I have been doing some morning sessions using the app for guidance. It’s a lot cheaper and more convenient than classes (assuming you have some skills and the requisite tablet computer).

Contact Yoga Mandir in Braddon. Alan Goode is excellent with this sort of thing.

Downer Community Centre has a couple of weekday yoga classes that would probably suit.

Tuesday night yoga at turner hall opposite barry drive is nice and gentle – lots of older ladies in the group.

Hangetsu Yoga in Deakin has a gentler class on Saturday mornings. Alex is lovely !
