Take a holiday in Singapore and report back what it’s like to drink ‘singapore sling’, better management of the catchment sounds like a more preferable before heading down the path of full-blown recycling.

hopefully the independant panel will also be concerned about toxins as well. Hence “The panel will be chaired by Emeritus Professor Ian Falconer, AO, Visiting Fellow of Pharmacology at the University of Adelaide. Professor Falconer’s main current field of research is water purification for toxin removal. Other members of the Expert Panel will be Professor Tony McMichael, Director of the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health at the Australian National University, Chemical Engineer Ian Law, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland, and Dr Katja Mikhailovich, head of Community Studies at the University of Canberra.”

The only thing that bothers me about recycled water is pharmaceutical residues.

They should stuff the ‘community consultaion’ and just make the bold decision to do what’s best for the community and the environment.
Well with the first, their version of community consultation isn’t likely to stop them even if everyone said ‘no’.

I’m curious though, as to whether this really is the best. If we’re recycling, doesn’t that mean less water goes down the river from our outflow, and therefore we have to increase our ‘envivonmental’ flows from the dams?

Fantastic! About time some sensible people started using recycled water. They should stuff the ‘community consultaion’ and just make the bold decision to do what’s best for the community and the environment.

Everyone downstream of us who draws water from the Murrumbidgee Rver, the Murray river or connected groundwaters already drinks recycled water – our used water, treated and poured into the the river. In fact, if you count kangaroo and cow pee washed into the dams, we already drink recycled water too .

It’s not really a case of recycle or not to recycle – the health standards for the water quality are the same – but whether we trust the govt. to treat the amounts of recycled water to the standard we have become accustomed to, especially since this govt. couldn’t manage its way out of a brown paper bag.

I wouldn’t mind recycled water if it means that there will be no more restrictions and i can have a lawn again.

Is it possible for us to vote the act government out of existance, its not like we voted for it in the first place.

It’s simple:

(a) Provide recycled water through the tap.
(b) Provide ‘new’ water in bottles, via supermarkets etc.

Let the market decide how much each option is worth.
