Youthful Belco Burglar

ACT Policing has arrested a 16-year-old boy following two burglaries at Belconnen businesses this week.

Police will allege between 1.20am and 2.15am on Thursday (January 13), the youth stole cash registers from a Hawker cafe, and a hair salon in Page.

The boy was arrested by Criminal Investigations detectives yesterday afternoon (Friday, January 14), and was charged with two counts of theft, one count of burglary and one count of aggravated burglary. He was also charged with one count of possess prohibited substance.

He will face the ACT Children’s Court this morning (Saturday, January 15), where bail will be opposed by police.

You raise a really good point, people often forget that circumstances in peoples upbringing can lead to poor decision making.

How did he get from hawker to page with cash register ? Probably walked to underpass behind hawker shops to parkland next to (st mathew’s?) school emptied it then kept walking to page shops. Given the time it was done in he was more than likely on foot.

Blagging shops at 16, eh? Obviously a bright future ahead of this young chap. No doubt he’ll be back on the streets within minutes.

And how did he get from Hawker to Page carrying a cash register? I wouldn’t be surprised if there was someone else in his “crew” providing transport for the worker bees.

There’s a public notice board “monolith” style thing at Hawker shops. How about they post a picture of him there….

I’m starting to get into this name and shame thing….
