Quite why we need an ACT shadow minister for Veteran’s Affairs is a little beyond me.

But Zed Seselja has informed us that have one we shall.

Apparently it is “In recognition of the sacrifice and service of our military personnel”.

Forget health care and pensions, surely there is no higher tribute than a shadow minister for a non-existent portfolio!

(The cynical might think it has something to do with trying to cash in on the annual wave of Anzac worship.)

The indefatigable Colonel Hanson is of course the man for the job, perhaps disappointed to discover that there is no Defence portfolio in ACT politics.

To show just how made keen he is on all things veteran the Libs have pushed out his bio again for public consumption.

Still not fit to govern. Stunts don’t come any worse than this. I can’t wait for May Day, and the announcement that Zed is to be shadow minister for the Workers Revolution, or November, with Vicki Dunne to be shadow minister for horse flesh.

Maybe we should, we did fund those anti-tank defences out by the highway…

We could even have our own navy, based at the Kingston Harbour.

The NSW Government was recently mocked in the Sydney Morning Herald for creating a Veterans’ Affairs portfolio in order to find a ministry for an ALP hack. It’s bizarre to see the the ACT Libs are doing the same thing. Veterans’ Affairs is a Commonwealth Government responsibility for which the states have no significant role.

What next, a Minister for Immigration to handle all those migrants from interstate?

I’m surprised the Liberals have a bottom in their barrel left to scrape.

We have a Minister for Multiculturalism, Women, Youth etc so why not Vets. Good idea!

Make that “known” – doh, dunno what’s up with my editorial skills today 🙂

Jezza was at the Veterans’ Lounge at TCH this morning for the Anzac service. Not sure about Zed (or Zdenko as he is otherwise know).
