Zed Seselja has announced that he has born witness to a world record!

Zed Seselja, Leader of the Canberra Liberals, today congratulated St Claire’s college students for breaking a Guinness World Record this morning for the most amount of people in the one place simultaneously rubbing their stomachs and tapping their head.

Mr Seselja was an official witness for the world record attempt along with Canberra netball Darters player Megan Clowry.

“I’d like to congratulate all the St Claire’s students and their teachers who participated in this world record attempt,” Zed said. “It was a sight to see over 900 students doing the same action at the same time for over a minute.

Words fail me. Apparently this exercise was necessary to raise money for Pakistan.

However silly the stunt, if they raised money for charity then what is the problem?!

Unlike many Catholic schools in Canberra- i.e. Marist, who give students detention if they don’t raise money so the school can buy a huge hunk of rock for a statue- St Clare’s does a lot for charity. Every year each ‘house group’ chooses a local charity and raise money all year to donate to them, to the tune of approx. $3000-4000 for each of the eight chosen charities.

But if Zed’s going to put out a media release, he should at least learn to spell the name of the school right.

Zed has almost no profile in the media at all. Now a story about him watching 900 school girls pat and rub themselves.

I remember many moons ago, the St Clares’ Dragon Boat team had shirts saying “Stroke Hard and Fast St Clares”

Also, for the record its “St Clares” not “St Claires”.

haha, that’s an interesting way to summarise the story!

I agree with Frano. What a bunch of miserable gits – sling what you like at Zed but lay off the kids. They’re just having some fun for a good cause…

He wasn’t doing any harm. He was hanging out with school kids and they were raising money for charity.

I don’t see any reason to be so down on the guy.

Yeah it isn’t the most important thing to be doing. But it isn’t the worst thing he could be doing.

Gee you two are really pathetic. This was a fun spectacle organised by school kids. Whilst it is not the most important thing going on in Canberra, why do you have to be so miserable towards a bunch of school kids doing no harm at all to your precious lives.

I hope he doesn’t fight it out with Barr for the next paper bag opening.

Don’t mean to troll, but he was helping them raise money for Pakistan, wasn’t he? Isn’t that better than writing a cheque of taxpayer money without consultation?

I don’t see the harm in it.

Small things amuse small minds. I suppose we should be thankful that this little stunt by the Catholics is not costing taxpayers over $200million like that World Youth Day disaster two years ago.

Hear, hear.

Nevertheless, we are paying this prospective “leader” to waste his time on this idiocy.
