Zed lashes out at the Greens as his no confidence motion goes down

After shutting down the Legislative Assembly for a week the Liberals’ Zed Seselja has had the chance to play the martyr after the Greens, as promised, backed the Chief Minister come hell or high water on the Health Statistics scandal and Zed’s resulting no confidence motion.

Not, it should be noted, before the Chief Minister took the time to blog about how great she is and how nasty Zed is.

Anyway here’s some of Zed’s choicer words:

“The falsification of emergency department records which occurred for at least half the time Katy Gallagher has been Health Minister is without doubt one of the most serious scandals in territory history,” Mr Seselja said.

“It involves not just poor performance, but bullying, systemic failures, fraud, cover ups, conceit and deceit at the highest levels of the management of our most crucial services.

“Katy Gallagher is also responsible for taking the ACT Health system from one of the best performing in the country and turning it into one of the worst.

“Each one of these is grounds enough for serious censure. Taken together, they can only be seen as grounds for no confidence.

“The Westminster system demands that Ministers take responsibility for public service failings. But today the ACT Greens refused to hold Katy Gallagher to the standard demanded by the former ACT Labor Government.

“I’ll never understand why Zed felt the need to suck up to a small group of Macarthur NIMBYs to scotch the power plant next door to the tip”

I can not let that crappy point of view pass just like that, HenryBG. Thanks to this struggle, Canberra can now look forward to be seen as a solar powered city, not a polluted gas powered dump!!
Who, apart from community power, deserves credit for this? Well I would say that is shared amongst the major parties. Sure the Greens and Liberals stood up to Labor’s gas-fired cock-up, but since then Labor and Greens have pushed solar power for Canberra full out and to their credit!

Gas-produced power is far less carbon-emissive and far less polluting than the power we are currently using. And modern gas power plants are far more efficient and cost-effective than the old coal-fired plants currently servicing our power needs.

And if there’s one form of power-generation we will absolutely need a lot more of as a pre-requisite to adding solar power generation to this mix, it’s on-demand generation, as provided by gas. A facility we would now have, if it weren’t for Zed and his NIMBYs.

So, now that the motion of no confidence has failed, as it was always going to, can any of Zed’s cheer squad explain why the Liberals insisted in this folly, when they could have moved a censure motion, which would have given them the same opportunity to grand stand without closing down the Assembly for a week?

Transl., “How dare the other tribe stand up and fight. *Especially* when my tribe so desperately wants this whole affair to disappear into a black hole.”

+1. The current government is a joke. Lets get rid of everyone in the LA and start again.

So the cheer squad have nothing to offer in defense of this complete waste of Assembly time? Hardly surprising I guess.

On a side note, if the intellectual power-house HenryBG and the sneer-bot Mysteryman both disagree with me I must be pretty much on the money.

Oh yeah. You’re a real grade-A intellectual. It’s amazing MENSA haven’t approached you after all your astonishingly brilliant and accurate posts.

“I don’t care that the leader of the government I voted for did the wrong thing and should be dealt with I want the legislative assembly open the opposition leader is an idiot trolllololol”.

Top stuff, mate.

Dude, put down the flag, take off the scarf and beanie and read my post. What did the motion of no confidence achieve, that a censure motion wouldn’t have?

It would be great if you could answer that question – let’s not turn this into another ‘pissing contest’

And yes, I do believe that the Assembly, and it’s members, should have been performing their roles – stunning I know…

I think I’ve come to the conclusion that Katy has crossed a bridge too far.

Compared to Carnell, she has been found more morally wrong, in her department manipulating data for financial gain, and the CT revelation that her TCH doctors have not complied with recording directives in over 50% of cases. Carnell understood Ministerial responsibility; Act Labor, from Sonic onwards, has not had the intestinal fortitude to comply with this tenet of Westminster Government.

Zed may well not be the answer, but ACT Labor are not ellectable.

The Greens will only ever back the Labor Party, but they are then as incriminated as the Gov.

Katy never killed any little girls though, let’s just make this clear.

Neither did Carnell.

Jesus. Stop your whining and put your energy into _doing_ something about the crappy health system, rather than pointing at the other side and crying “Mum! Mum! Mum! Look! Mum! They screwed it up! Mum! Mummmmmm!!! Look at them! Look at them!” and wondering why no-one with a working brain is listening to you.

Yes, because the best way to improve it is to turn a blind eye to the incompetence and fraud with which it is currently beset.

I’ll never understand why Zed felt the need to suck up to a small group of Macarthur NIMBYs to scotch the power plant next door to the tip, but despite that betrayal of the business interests his party is meant to stand for, it’s looking good for him at the next election.

“Today was a shocking display of what democracy has become in this town without a genuine crossbench.”

LOLZ. Even Zed thinks Canberra is an overgrown town.

The only real suprise here is that Zed was suprised by any of this. Why would the ACT Greens want to bite the (rotten and corrupt) hand that feeds?

OK….how bout we try to get a little balanced about this…Kate Carnell gets sacked over Bruce Stadium because a public servant does the wrong thing. Yes, the implosion was a stuff-up and the death of a young woman was horrible. KC did not plant the explosives – people went along thinking they safe. Wrong! Whose fault?
Move forward to 2003. Four deaths in the Canberra Bushfires after no warning from the Government. Stanhope? Blameless? No-one charged…just “one of those things”.
2012 – massive cover-up with the emergency figures by someone known to the Chief Minister (and who happens to holiday at the same time/ place at KG. Coincidence? Maybe. Do the emergency numbers translate to $$$$s? Yes, they indeed do! Conspiracy to defraud. Maybe. The Greens? Guilty by association….standing by the Government, at all costs? Yes! Did they standing by Kate C? No. Double standards, much! Thinking about voting for them again? Think twice!

You lost me at ‘Kate Carnell gets sacked’. She resigned.

I’m confused. Is that Katy Galagher blog part of a government website or a party website?

Party website I believe
