Zed Seselja has held secret, closed door, private meetings with Tony Abbott.

Jazz 10 October 2012 56

As the ACT election draws ever nearer we typically see all sorts of mud slinging back and forth between the major parties. Today, citynews brings us word that ACT Labor have accused The Canberra Liberals of holding “secret, closed door” meetings with Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.

Apparently challenger to the throne Zed Seselja had previously indicated he wouldn’t be talking to Tony Abbott about the local campaign & Labor are furious he’s seemingly going back on his word… as if that never happens in politics.

How the hell would Katy Gallagher, or anyone else for that matter, know what the meetings were about if they weren’t in attendance? Zed said he wasn’t getting Abbott involved in the campaign. He never said he wouldn’t meet with Abbott.

Cry harder, Katy.

ACT Labor have been trying to join the local Libs to the Federal Libs promise to cut APS jobs, what I wonder is do you really think, Katy and Barr would be able to stop a federally elected Abbott gov cutting APS Jobs? for that matter would Zrd be able to stop federal Labor or Lib cutting APS jobs?

So I can see why a lot of Canberrans might want to vote ALP federally, I can see a good reason for that. But this upcoming election in Canberra has nothing to do with Abbott or PM Gillard. It has to do with who running Canberra.

The Local ALP Scare campaign on the back of every flyer ive been given is a joke.

I notice that someone has been out writing on Lib trucks and signs with Abbott scare campaign.

I hope ACT voters know the difference between State/Federal Gov.

If you vote for Labor at the election vote for them because you believe local labor will run Canberra better

Perhaps they are sharing Websites URLs of misogynistic images and videos.

Gee, a “secret, closed door meeting”? Oh, puhleeze!

Tony will be PM in less than a year so it is perfectly reasonable that the local leader of the same party – who himself might be Chief Minister in a week or so – should meet with the big cheese to get some idea of what a federal Liberal government might be like and how the two governments might better work together for a more streamlined and professional approach.

Move on folks, nothing to see here …

I dont care that Zed met with Abbott. I care that he said he wouldn’t and now he has. Doesn’t say a lot in terms of trust.

As opposed to presiding over industrial scale fraud and refusing to conduct a real investigation or even attempt to find out just who was involved once the patsy stepped forward? Oh boy do I want to trust her.

Lolllllllllzzzzzzzzz

Isn’t this just the ACT Government breaching Zed’s right to freedom of political association? Isn’t that an internationally protected human right under some treaty, which is applied as ACT law by the Human Rights Act 2004? Maybe he should complain to the Human Rights Commission?

And it says something that they had to resort to the City News to run this.

That’s what I heard too. Zed said (sensibly, given the toxic federal arena) that he wouldn’t use Abbott to campaign with him. He didn’t say he wouldn’t take campaign advice from him. And I didn’t hear him say he wouldn’t talk to or meet with Abbott. Labor is sounding desperate!

Should we all just ignore the fact that JULIA TALKED TO KATY YESTERDAY…..

No, because it’s exactly the point. Katy didn’t say she wasn’t going to ask Julia to get on her campaign trail. Zed, on the other hand, explicitly said that he wasn’t going to talk to Tony, because the focus should be on local issues. He said this as a thinly-veiled criticism of Katy. Which would make him a hypocrite, wouldn’t it?

If you’re going to go all southern Baptist crazy shouter, the least you could do is try to keep up.

I would want the leaders of both parties to be talking – frequently- to Federal leaders. Our local political leaders should be representing and protecting the interests of ACT residents as federal policies are formulated. Steg @vicars31

+2. Yeap, and unless someone has a recording of that meeting, the rest is speculation.

And you my friend need to get your facts straight before you look like a mouthpiece.

He said he wouldn’t use him in the campaign, not he wouldn’t speak to the man.

Actually, Zed said “at this stage” or words to that effect, that he wouldn’t talk to Abbott.

And that was a few weeks ago I believe.

So technically the point is kind of mute really.

But whatever….

A very brave prediction.

Abbott is sooooo not PM material it’s not funny. You’d have to be banking on a hell of a lot more ALP incompetence to help get Abbott over the line….

You truly are pathetic if you think this is anything more significant than a windup.

I though the Liberals stupid “triple your rates” slogan would be the low point of this campaign.

I stand corrected, this wins.
