Zierholz in Belconnen?

There’s a piece in The Canberra Times today about Zierholz opening a second brewery-cafe in Belconnen. This is possibly the best news in the newspaper this morning, if not this week!!

Does anyone know where in Belconnen this will be? By the lake, possibly?

My only gripe is that it will be in Belconnen and not in Gungahlin…we desperately need a place like Zierholz in Gungahlin – is it too late to change their mind? (Thank God we have the George Harcourt Inn, though.) But still, something else, in Gungahlin itself, even (or especially) down by Yerrabi Pond or Gungahlin Pond, would be brilliant.

Fantastic news about Zierholz, however; more power to them!

Nuts busy? Sounds inappropriate….

I may be shooting way off the mark here. However, if the UC Bar closed due to a distinct lack of patronage, largely due to the high population of non-drinkers attending UC these days, (never would have happened in my day). Why would anyone put another pub/bar in that area? Given also that Zierholz is higher end than a Uni Bar i don’t see how this venture can or will succeed. The General Public won’t go to the Uni for a drink.

Non-drinking uni students? When I went to UC (admittedly some time ago) the uni bar was usually steady, and nuts busy on Thursday nights.

SolarPowered you are the demographic A Current Affair targets – “real people” living in white bread soul less suburbs.

Don’t watch it myself

Get your views from A Current Affair, don’t you, cantiger?

Venture out of whatever bubble you live in and meet some real people for a change.

“I can understand the rage trickster. Maybe one day you may be fortunate enough to live in a suburb that isn’t riddled with govvy housing.”

Yeah we all aspire to live in clean cut Mcmansion subsurbs with 10 plasma televisions

People who live in Gungahlin sure do complain a lot.

Back before the Tuggeranong Hyperdome existed, for YEARS people had to go to Woden Plaza to shop and to access amenities

Are UC students rich enough to be able to pay hideous prices for beer?

You choose to live in Gungahlin, you choose to live without essential services likes breweries.

If you wanted to live near amenities perhaps you shouldn’t have moved to hideous suburban hell hole?

ummmmm – what is Zeirholz? Right now the GH Inn is the only decent place in the vicinity, so a bit of variety would be fantastic!

100% we need something like this in Gungahlin. The place lacks a decent pub (excluding Gold Creek of course).

Uni Canberra I believe.

You are right though, fantastic news!!!!

I think you might be disappointed with its Belconnen location too. While I don’t think I’m at liberty to reveal the location, I’ll just say it’s likely to be in a location that was used as a pub before.

i’ve heard rumours (and they may be just that) that it is going to be on UC campus…
