Zoo to become five star hotel?

CityNews have a slightly interesting story on the new CEO of the zoo who views a complete lack of zoo experience as an asset.

But this bit really caught my eye.

Plans for the expansion of Canberra Zoo include a 99-year lease on 60 hectares to the south on which will be a five-star hotel. Mr Hull said visitors will be able to have breakfast while watching the animals have theirs just metres away.

Five stars eh?

well this has come out of nowhere.

i recall him asking for extra land, i hope that he paid for it instead of having it gifted by the govt.

i suspect that it will be a financial disaster.

Because they’re not your chimpanzees, you get to watch and not have to clean up after them…

I think this guy has rather high hopes of people eating breakfast looking out at *insert lame african sounding name here* giraffes and lions, when in reality it’ll be closer to watching the keepers shovel yesterdays breakfast refuse to the pigs in the slop pit.

Why spend money watching a herd of chimpanzees eating breakfast when that’s what I get at home every day?

Shouldn’t you call him Pinchy 😉

and a dinosaur add on pack…i think there was a dinosaur one

Sounds like you need to buy yourself a copy of zoo tycoon sam.

Two questions:
1. Do you get a discount if the animals try to eat you?
2. How many stars does the hotel lose when the animals invade?

Ok, three questions…
3. Any chance of dinosaurs and a Jurassic Park reenactment?

They have a fancy hotel at the Dubbo zoo. I haven’t stayed there, but I believe you get to help the zookeepers do the morning feed.
