East Kitchen is a long serving stalwart of the Dickson scene, tucked into the courtyard next to Zeffirelli’s.
And they have a fairly large menu of lunch dishes which go for $8.50 take away.
I went with a Mee Goreng with chicken.
There was a 10 minute wait. But hey, I can be fiddling on my phone anywhere right.
If you prefer fresh made to sitting in a bain marie this is probably a good thing.
The serve was huge. If I’d had breakfast I could have eaten just half and kept the rest in the fridge.
And, like pretty much all Mee Goreng, it was delicious.
A good lunch at a good price.
(For more sub $10 lunches in Civic check the tag, if you’ve got recommendations let me know.)

I know you are northside but would it be so hard to do a review SOUTH of the lake for $10 lunches?
In fact if actually ANYTHING on the riotact could be not just about the inner north??

You could submit a review of something southside? I would, but I don’t have a smartphone to take accompanying pictures with.
Bloody Hell, Google street view is wonderful and also vaguely terrifying.
When I find something good south of the lake I’ll let you know about it.

?
But the East Kitchen isn’t even visible, as it’s in the courtyard area where google cars don’t have access to.
Snag Stand would be worth a review.
How do these noodles compare to say, a packet of Mi goreng, which I can also afford? (and is about 90% less expensive)

You have permission to set up your own website

“?”? What does “?” mean? I should be asking you how it isn’t both amazing and a little bit scary if you want to act all blasé about it.
Also to contribute stories to this website.

Disappointed by the buns, all the same soft sweet bleauh, they ruin it for me.
The currry worst and chips has no bun, so I still have that occasionly..
If I actually got to go OUT for lunch, I would be able to do a review. I don’t think our non existent school canteen cuts it and my meagre lean cuisine counts. On the off chance I do get to go out, I do enjoy the sushi place at Erindale.
But I still think riotact is too north-centric. that was the main point I was making.

You don’t read comics (such as dilbert) much do you?

What would be amazing and terrifying is if you could see through the windows of East Kitchen restaurant into the hairy nose of johnboy while he yawned waiting for his dish. THAT would be hideous.
Other than that, there isn’t much you get out of streetview (except for, you guessed it, street view). May be a dead donkey or two.
Didn’t know this existed. Have to check it out!
Well if you think that, why not submit an article about tugged then? It’s not hard. It’s not restaurants that’s being reviewed but lunch time type places… Surely there’s something around…

Only the people walking about and the cars on the street are amazing, is all I’m saying. The fact that my car could (hypothetically) be featured sitting out the front of a dealer’s house on the internet for all to see by sheer virtue of being there at the same time as a Google van drove past is unnerving. Surely others can relate to that, even if it’s not for precisely the same reason?
I am loving the 10 dollar lunch reviews of dickson!!
(please note. i live south of the lake. I am pretty sure nothing interesting happens down here.)
You should do a review of a $10 lunch over in south Civic, you know around new acton etc where a lot of businesses and departments have moved.
Oh, wait. You cant because everything is so $#%$# fashionable and expensive. We want deep fried chicken pieces in asian flavouring, not organise free range carrot salad with 423 yr old balsamic

I think that’s Acton.
Plenty of cheap eats over west Civic two blocks from there where the students hang out
South of the lake, someone who works there could always review a baby Brodburgers, which are under the $10 mark. The Indian place in Narrabundah does curry and rice lunchboxes for $8.50.
