Mr Stanhope has announced his independent advertising reviewers:
The ACT Government has announced it will appoint former Commonwealth departmental head Derek Volker, AO, as the independent reviewer of campaign advertising, pending approval, as required, by two-thirds of the Legislative Assembly.
The Government also intends to appoint journalist, lecturer and legal expert Crispin Hull, as an alternate reviewer.
Mr Volker is a former Secretary of the Commonwealth Departments of Veterans Affairs, Social Security and Education. For a decade he was Chairman of the Government Relations Group in Corrs Chambers Westgarth. More recently he chaired the ACT Government’s Skills Commission. He has also chaired the Australian Capital Tourism Corporation and has extensive experience as a company director and consultant…
“Mr Hull will be known to very many Canberrans for his long career as a journalist and columnist,” Mr Stanhope said. “A former editor of The Canberra Times and currently a lecturer in media at the University of Canberra, Mr Hull is also a trained lawyer with a deep understanding of all of the issues upon which the reviewer would be expected to exercise judgment.”
