Arrest over alleged death threats to Brittany Higgins and David Sharaz

A man has been charged with allegedly threatening to kill a woman, her partner and their dog in the ACT, with the alleged victims believed to be Brittany Higgins and David Sharaz.

NSW Police said the Terrorism Investigation Squad started an investigation in February 2023 after hearing allegations of violent threats made through social media in relation to participants of a mass gathering.

Detectives allegedly uncovered 49 messages with similar threats or offensive content sent from a number of accounts that were believed to be linked.

The terrorism squad arrested a 49-year-old man at Tweed Heads Police Station on Wednesday (19 April). He was charged with using a carriage service to make a threat to kill and using a carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on 31 May.

“There is no current or impending threat to the community as a result of this operational activity,” police said.
