Politicians in general, i consider to have their head up their arse, but in this instance Richard Mulcahy has come up with what i consider to be a quite reasonable position. It seems that union officials have been sending correspondance to ACT public servants encouraging them to use ‘Trade Union Training Leave” to attend a national day of protest against changes to Industrial Relations Laws.
Technically the fully paid Trade Union Training Leave is available to public servants to attend seminars on their certified agreement rights and entitlements. Its a bit of a stretch to consider that protesting might be covered but it would seem that the union movement doesn’t consider it so.
