Although many Canberrans, and Australians were a little hungover following Caroline Buchanan and Jared Graves victories in the 4X last night, it was a beautiful Canberra day up on Mt Stromlo – so much that it will be my first sun burn of the summer (doh!)
In the elite XC races today, Swiss Nino Schurter won the mens, and Russian Irina Kalentieva won the womens. Surprisingly Irina won the womens race after breaking her chain on the descent on the first lap, and managed to make up for the minute she lost getting it fixed.
More info on the XC racing is on MTBWorldsCanberra.com.
Russ Baker has heaps of great photos of the mens XC race and the womens XC race.
Tomorrow (Sunday)
Will see the finals of all downhill classes, with Aussies Mick Hannah & Sam Hill looking strong in the elite mens.
Also trials 26″ junior & senior mens classes will be decided.
