NTP and I decided to go and spend a day at the cricket on Friday. It was promising to be a fine day with the heat rising early and plenty of sunshine.

There was plenty of fun to be had around the ground (water fights, sombreros, cup stacking and watermelon helmets) and a great game of cricket going on in the centre.

In a batting display Australia knocked up 316 of their 50 overs and the West Indies set off on the run chase with 179 before the thunderstorm stopped play. It is good to see Australias up and coming Cricketers stick in to the Windies. It did look pretty cool rolling in over the Bob Hawke stand though.

The Canberra Times reported on the game

NTP took plenty of photos that he should be uploading for all to see soon.

Seeing that storm come in was fantastic – a rapid descent from a lovely day into a massive downpour. Nature in all her glory.

Special mention for the chap who used the pitch covers as a slip ‘n slide to entertain the crowd after the rain started. Funny stuff.

Also liked the effort from the Camp Quality bear… all the other pitch invaders were getting crashed tackled for their efforts, but no ground staff dared tackle the mighty Camp Quality bear 🙂
