Soon Canberrans won’t even need to leave the Capital to enter a resort-style day spa complete with lounge retreats and a reflection pond with cabanas.
Enter Hale: Canberra’s newest wellness destination in Barton.
Hale combines a fitness centre with unique fitness programs, together with a day spa and relaxation retreat, making it the ultimate place to look great and feel even better.
Hale is a passion project for the award-winning Doma Group, who own and run Hotel Realm, Little National Hotel, Burbury Hotel & Apartments and Brassey Hotel.
Brassey Hotel is their latest acquisition, with the group dedicating over a year to restoring the iconic 1927 hotel to include 75 beautiful rooms and the new $3million luxury health retreat Hale.
Hotel guests from any of the hotels will have unlimited access to the 24-hour retreat, as will the rest of Canberra via open memberships, one-off casual classes and appointment-only day spa services.
Set to open in late January, the fitness section comprises:
- Workout area
- Free weights room
- Group training rooms
- Pilates and yoga studio
- Spin studio
- Outdoor gym area
- Outdoor running/sprinting track
- Walking trail
Rather than offering year-long memberships, the group has decided to explore a measurable approach to improving the health of its members and guests, by offering a select number of 12-week programs each year.
Their signature program, aptly named ‘Hale Method’, will kick off for 12 weeks beginning 30th January, 2017. It is open to people of all physical abilities, and creates an individualised health journey where participants are educated on all aspects of fitness, mobility, diet and general health.
The Hale Method involves:
- InBody scans
- 4 x 60min weekly classes run by some of Canberra’s best trainers
- A combination of strength training, tabata/HIIT training, yoga, pilates and group cycle sessions
- Full gym access
- Unlimited use of infrared saunas, steam rooms and indoor plunge pool
- Access to established specialists and personal trainers (not gym staff)
- Easy on-site parking
The program is just $150 per week for 12 weeks.
Additional programs introduced later in the year will include slight variations, to ensure participants who love the journey and facilities are able to experience it again from a new aspect.
The fitness programs also incorporate some of the latest technological advancements in wellness tracking, including access to a customised app.
Being dedicated to Canberra and the gruelling schedules of some of the group’s hotel guests, the program will make allowances for parliament-sitting periods.
Adjoining the fitness centre is Hale’s new resort and day spa. Unlike anything currently on offer in Canberra, the location will offer the ultimate pampering experience, including:
- Cave-like spa pool
- Segregated male/female steam rooms and infrared saunas
- Nine treatment rooms
- Large couples suite
- Lounge with fireplace
- Reflection pond and outdoor cabanas
- Highly qualified skin specialist to provide medical skin treatments
Managing Director of Doma Group, Jure Domazet, is extremely passionate about the project. He is on a mission to achieve “measurable improvement for the health of all Hale and hotel guests” via access to world class facilities, instruction, education, and progress tracking across all programs.
The Doma Group has even released plans to have their hotel menus reviewed and re-printed to include an H symbol next to healthier, ‘Hale-approved’ dishes.
“The fitness offerings will encourage new generations of clientele – tapping into a market of discerning mature and business-oriented locals and visitors for whom the traditional gym scene holds little appeal,” says Mr Domazet.
“And (of the day spa), we are providing international-standard facilities in a building and landscape setting that encourages total relaxation. Canberrans who have traditionally saved time, money and treatments for interstate trips to a resort can now come to Hale.
We are planning a range of packages across our hotels, depending on how much you want to spend, to encourage the ultimate weekend getaway. You will be able to choose from a suite of treatments, programs, restaurants and accommodation styles to suit any budget or length of stay. We believe the “staycation” will prove to be very popular.”
Hale will open in late January. Christmas vouchers are already on sale and can be used for the first round of lucky program participants, or for a spa package.
Hale is located at 10-14 Macquarie Street, Barton.
