Police hunt alleged train thief accused of stealing cash

Police are hunting for a man alleged to have stolen cash and property from a train that arrived in Canberra last month.

The train arrived at the Kingston Railway Station from Sydney on 1 November 2024.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said a man disembarked the train after it arrived at around 10 pm before getting back onboard a short time later.

He allegedly stole a bag of property and a sum of cash that was on the train before leaving.

The police spokesperson described the man as being Caucasian in appearance, about 180 cm tall, with a medium build and bald.

He wore dark shoes, black pants, a white T-shirt and a grey cap.

“Police would urge this man to present himself to the nearest police station,” the spokesperson said.
