Winter is here – on the calendar and the mercury. Outdoor events are dwindling, but there are still a lot of activities on offer. The talented artists behind ‘She’s on the Bill” are raising money to help the flood-affected residents of the Northern Rivers with some cracking music.

On the topic of support, the National Gallery of Australia is promoting the visibility of women with a mass edit-a-thon of Wikipedia entries. It’s a win-win: learn a new skill and promote local talent. So whether it is a beautiful kids show, craft markets or an interactive installation, there is something great for everyone this week.

This is a rare dance performance for the more artsy Canberrans. Philippa Cullen was a pioneering performance artist who used the movement of the body to generate sound, notably with a theremin, a musical instrument controlled without physical contact. Despite the originality of her art, Cullen is now little known, having died prematurely at the age of 25. For Know My Name: Australian Women Artists 1900 to Now, contemporary dancer Jo Lloyd has conceived Archive the archive, a new performance commission that revisits and extends Cullen’s pioneering practice. It’s happening at the free artist party of this momentous exhibition, so get in quick.
