Chief Minister Stanhope is reminding us that tonight is the start of the lunar new year.
So happy Rabbit to you all.
In addition it seems there’s a big party at the Sakyamuni Buddhist Centre in Lyneham:
Chief Minster Jon Stanhope will join members of Canberra’s Vietnamese community in Lyneham to welcome the Year of the Rabbit.
Around 1000 people are expected to attend the festivities at the Sakyamuni Buddhist Centre, which will include a costume parade, dragon dance and fireworks.
According to the Chinese Zodiac, the rabbit symbolises graciousness, good manners, sound counsel, kindness and sensitivity.
“The celebration is one of the largest Buddhist-Asian community events in the ACT and a special time to reflect on another year, and prepare for the year ahead,” Mr Stanhope said.
