Aberrant Lodge

Alrighty, so here’s a thing… C. Edge (the C stands for Cultural, Cutting, Critical, Centenary, Capital, and Canberra apparently) are a group of… well I don’t know what they’re a group of… but they’re dedicated to marking the Centenary of Canberra in a different way, and I’m fairly sure I met one of them on the weekend.

His face was covered in bark and he had grapes in his hair.

I was dressed as a bus/train at the time, so I’m not judging here by the way. It was a pretty great grape wig.

At any rate they’re making a movie about Canberra’s dark secrets called Blood & Mortar (which has some awesome make up work behind it as far as I can tell and some sort of awesome looking gorilla lady with a flaming torch), and to raise money for that they’re hosting a late-40’s themed night of entertainment at Corroboree Park Hall on Saturday the 9th of October.

All make sense?

Good, here’s the Facebook page for the event.

Centenary Edge presents a special one-night only late-1940s evening of food, music and festivities.

Come and celebrate with the cultural underground of our Centenary at an evening of fun and fundraising for Canberra feature film Blood & Mortar at Corroboree Park Halls on Saturday 9 November.

“Blood & Mortar is a community-run, Canberra-based, artistic project promising to reveal the Capital’s deepest, darkest secret in an unnaturally disturbing feature film”, says Centenary Edge Creative Director M. Athol Hepburn.

“The culmination of this project will be a cutting-edge movie delving into the dark heart of the National Capital, and we encourage people to join us at this boom-time celebration, Aberrant Lodge.”

The evening will feature:
— Swing Band – The Hot Four
— Honky-Tonk Rock – The Lazy Harrys
— DJ & organist- Ira’s Organs
— 3 course dinner
— Revelation of the next Centenary Edge Summoning Card
— Opportunity to meet the Blood & Mortar team
— Performance, Parlour Games and more…

A cameo role in Canberra’s very own ‘new gothic’ film Blood and Mortar will be auctioned off after dinner – don’t miss this rare opportunity.

The Herald of The Edge wishes to explain that he meant no offence by declining your kind offer of a bus/train ride on the weekend. Being something of an anachronistic fellow he prefers the horses back or, failing that, Shanks’s pony.
Love to see you along at Aberrant Lodge!
