Joy Burch has the very happy news that the ACT Primary Schools Sports Australia 12 years and under girls’ softball team has won the National Championship:

“The ACT under-12 softball team is deserving winner of the gold. They have progressed through the competition undefeated, finished very strongly in their last game this morning” Ms Burch said.

This is the first time since 1979 that the ACT under-12 girls have won gold at the championships. The ACT team is made up of representatives from public and non-government schools.

“This is a huge accomplishment for our girls competing against bigger jurisdictions, and against the noted junior softball powers of New South Wales and Queensland.

“I also want to acknowledge our ACT under-12 boys also performed superbly, winning bronze in their equivalent championship.

Congratulations to all involved!
