Are the comrades complacent? Or fed up?

johnboy 15 February 2007 16

In CityNews the former independent MLA (and Minister for Health), Michael Moore is making much of a Mix 106 straw poll showing Kate Carnell to be massively more popular than Jon Stanhope.

He makes the point that more interesting still was a lack of Labor shills jamming the Mix switchboard to complain or defend the Dear Leader.

So is he on the nose amongst his own? Or are they so sure of victory they needn’t even bother getting out of bed?

All’s forgiven Kate…please come back.

A Labor party member I know was regaling me about a letter from Stanhope he (and the ‘party faithful’, presumably) got recently – full of bollocks about all the (alleged) fabbo things they’ve done – and lo, the next day he received his membership renewal papers. Needless to say, he thinking long and hard about renewing, given the recent debacles.

Spank it!

Hmmm,

If I was put in the situation where I had the angry hedgehog raging in my ear, and Calamity Kate running her hand up and down my leg, I’m not sure what I’d do.

Ah, those were the days.

Loopy MLAs with no idea. Whatever happened? Did Canberra suddenly decide to grow up and elect ‘real’ politicians?

Literacy Boomacat, you have to read to the second para:

He makes the point that more interesting still was a lack of Labor shills jamming the Mix switchboard to complain or defend the Dear Leader.

It’s not the poll that intrigues, it’s the reaction to the poll.

A Mix 106 poll, now there’s a reliable measure.

Like the polls on those tabloid magazine programs dressed up as news for the ignorant proles (ACA, Today Tonight etc) – “oh my god, according to our poll 98% of Australians think that people who get caught trying to put 5c coins in parking meters should be executed”…

yes – the heroin trial was one of Kate’s good ideas that went the way of ‘commitment ceremonies’.

he did get dope decriminalised along the way and had a red hot shot at bringing sanity to heroin.

No, Ari, not that Michael Moore. This is the Michael Moore who, not so long ago, was working for Kate at the Divisions of General Practice.

seepi seepi 8:44 pm 15 Feb 07

back when canberra politics was even wierder Michael got into the Assembly as an independant on a hippy type legalise dope smoking platform. He then got in bed with the liberals and became health minister.

Michael Moore? Fat bloke, bad hair, baseball cap?

I don’t know why no-one dubbed Kate Carnell with the nickname “Far”.

Far Carnell. Get it?
