Brumbies have completed a remarkable comeback against the Queensland Reds at GIO Stadium, coming back from a 15-point deficit to run away with a bonus point win.
The Brumbies ran in seven tries against an injury-hit Reds in a 45-21 win that showed the best and the worst of the home side.
The Brumbies started off slowly with some shocking school-boy errors in the first 15 minutes to see the Reds take a solid 15-0 lead in front of a disappointed 7,598-member crowd.
Tries to Folau Fainga’a and Isi Naisarani before halftime put momentum with the ACT side as they went into the sheds trailing 18-12.
The Brumbies were grateful to be within touching distance of the Reds at halftime after a frustrating 40 minutes filled with errors and turnovers.
A stirring second-half performance from the Brumbies blew the Reds away, however, with the home side running in seven unanswered tries to eventually cruise to a bonus-point win.
The visitors could only manage a further two penalty goals for the rest of the game, as a night that seemed to be destined for disappointment for the Brumbies ended in the home side’s biggest win, putting them right back into contention in the Australian conference.
The win will bring some vital confidence and momentum before the Brumbies travel to New Zealand next weekend aiming to beat a Kiwi team for the first time since round one of the 2016 season.
Local photographer Ben Appleton from Photox was at the game to capture all the action on and off the field.
