Canberra-based, singer-songwriter Amber Nichols will lead the annual Carols in Tuggeranong Town Park on Sunday, 16 December as the Valley celebrates the festive season.

Nichols, who competed on The Voice in 2015, will be joined by another Canberra Voice veteran, teenager Lucy Sugarmen, who made it through to the 2017 Grand Final.

Supporting them will be more local talent in Mickey Sulit and Ashleigh Lane, backed by Salvation Army’s National Capital Band, the Tuggeranong Salvation Army Timbrels, and a local choir.

Sponsored by the Vikings Group for the 11th year, the event will of course also see a visit from Santa and include plenty of entertainment for families such as jumping castles, pony rides, farm animals and more.

Vikings Group CEO Anthony Hill said the Vikings Group was proud to be partnering with the Salvation Army to deliver this Christmas event, particularly to the Tuggeranong community.

“Carols in Town Park is a fantastic event and is truly one for the whole family. It’s a great opportunity to sing along to the carols and get into that Christmas spirit,” he said.

“The work of Salvation Army in the community is so important. Being able to assist them to give back to our local community by providing a free event is really why we do what we do and that’s why we have continued to support this event, now in our eleventh year.

“It is recognised as the biggest community Christmas event in South Canberra, and every year it just gets bigger and better.”

The community is encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and arrive early to claim a good vantage point in the park.
