All charges accusing a Scullin man of bashing a pregnant woman have been dropped, including that he allegedly punched her in her stomach while she was 22 weeks pregnant.

Martin Carl Phillips was due to face a five-day hearing in the ACT Magistrates Court starting on Monday (15 November), but instead, the prosecution withdrew 12 charges against him, including three counts of assaulting a pregnant woman.

No reason was given for the withdrawal, but it was granted by Magistrate Glenn Theakston.

In February, the then-35-year-old had pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Phillips was not released from jail on Monday as he was remanded in custody over other charges.
