Dead moth in my Easyway drink

moth

I found a dead moth inside my Easyway drink that I bought from Easyway stall at Westfield Belconnen.

Pharmacist at Macquarie Discount Pharmacy advised me that it is not harmful but I am still feeling queasy.

I am thinking of making a complaint so that it does not happen to other people. Who would be the correct authority/regulators to deal with such issues?

Thank you for your advice.

From http://www.tams.act.gov.au/play/pcl/heritage/aboriginal_heritage_in_the_act/bogong_moth_story

Bogong Moths were an important source of protein for Aboriginal people [within and around Canberra]. Some say the moths were roasted in hot ashes to burn off the wings and legs, then mashed into a ‘moth meat’ which had a nutty walnut taste.

Diner: What is this moth doing in my drink?
Waiter: The backstroke, sir

Yeah, I know it’s an old joke but I couldn’t resist.

very poetic.

and the hapless thing is clearly the party overflow, so patently part of any good-time beverage. poor everyone else who missed out. at least you didn’t choke on the toppings – phew!

bogongs are actually quite tasty; de-wing them and saute them in a bit of butter. mmmmm…

Keep quiet or everyone will want one

+1 The winning witty comment on this otherwise useless thread.

Agree with another poster, the person should have just gone back to EasyWay rather than posting on the interwebs. And why drag poor Macquarie Discount Pharmacy into this??

They’re a good source of protein. I’d only worry if I thought it had been sprayed with bug spray – dreadful stuff.

I hope you told the shop first so they could check their other cups?

Also a great source of calcium – maggies need a high calcium diet, thats why they eat insects such as these and many others.

wont hurt you – you could have taken it back. im sure they would have given you another drink and been appologetic, rather than you just putting s*** on them using a internet forum.

Did you check the EasyWay website to see if it’s part of any current promotions?

My cat eats moths off the glass sliding door, most nights. They don’t hurt her, and my two dogs have joined in recently too. I imagine they contain many crunchy vitamins and minerals. Free moth – I’d be cheering!

But yeah if you wanted to complain try calling Canberra Connect and asking for ACT Health protection service(? is that the right name?). Canberra connect will direct you.
