From lampooning the leadership to laughing in the face of adversity, cartoons have been making fun of Australian life since the First Fleet made its way into an unsuitable harbour. Inked: Australian Cartoons, draws from the Library’s extensive archive of Australian cartoons, from early eighteenth-century satirical drawings up to the present.

Each of these cartoons is a time capsule, providing a snapshot of Australian life. Visitors will be captivated by the works on display by many greats of Australian cartooning, including Will Dyson, Judy Horacek, Michael Leunig, David Low, Phil May, Alan Moir, Bruce Petty, Martin Sharp and Cathy Wilcox.

The exhibition is open from 7 March to 21 June 2019.
Time: 10.00am-5.00pm
