Huxley injury reveals brain tumor

Jazz 4 March 2008 8

Brumby utility back Julian Huxley’s career is now in doubt after being diagnosed with a brain tumor after routine tests for concussion following last weeks game against the Reds .

For a guy who has been hit pretty hard by injuries throughout his career this must come as pretty devastating news. Fortunately early indications are that the preexisting tumor are benign. ABC have the news here

[Ed. Lowey points out that Sportal also have some coverage on the news]

Reports on the news tonight suggest he will be out for the season, but better than the big out! Good luck Julian.

My mum had a benign tumour found by accident about 10 years ago. Same deal, they were unaware how long it had been there. Obviously the focus of her attention changed, but the tumour was removed without issue, apart from the Cyndi Lauper hairdo, and she recovered without problem.

He should be right. He’ll have received a bit of a fright though.

Just like Adam Ritson from about 1990 – a nasty head knock playing football could end up saving his life…

Faaaaarrrrk! I am in shock!

I really hope it turns out to be benign and/or treatable. I’m sending all my good vibes out to you, Hux.

It was there for years apparently. He seems like such a great guy…very unfortunate.

Indeed, sometimes fate makes itself known in the strangest of ways.

I dare say he was lucky to suffer that horrendous knock at the weekend, otherwise this may have taken some time before it was found.

Hope it works out OK for him.
