Larkham Cancer – Did they wait too long?

johnboy 16 March 2005

ABC Online had the first reportage of Steve Larkham’s skin cancer scare. The Canberra Times picked up the story, as did Planet-Rugby and RugbyHeaven.

I have to admit I’m more than a little disturbed by early suggestions that the operation was postponed until Matt Giteau could return from injury.

All those involved in that decision should be saying their prayers that the cancer has not spread. While statistically unlikely it still sounds like dicing with death. To me.

Bernie’s melodramatic pronouncements suggest he was holding on longer than he was comfortable. On the other hand he played possibly the three best games of his carrer, he does seem to thrive under stress.
