Man struck by baseball bat and car stolen at ANU

Police are calling for witnesses to come forward after a man was jumped as he was walking to his car at the Australian National University campus on Tuesday night (23 July).

Around 8:30 pm, a man was walking to his parked car (a white Subaru Liberty sedan bearing NSW registration AW32PX) on Sullivans Creek Road when he was approached from behind by an offender armed with a baseball bat.

The offender allegedly struck the man with the baseball bat before taking his car keys and driving away in the white Subaru Liberty sedan.

Paramedics treated and transported the man to hospital.

The offender is described as a Caucasian male, about 180cm (5’11”) tall, wearing a baseball cap and jeans.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information, CCTV or dash-cam footage that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
