In a musical theatre first, acts from 12 of Canberra and Queanbeyan’s finest musical theatre companies will share the stage at the Bicentennial Hall in Queanbeyan tomorrow night (7 March).
Stagecenta ACT, in association with Freemasons NSW/ACT (represented by Queanbeyan St Andrew Masonic Lodge), is presenting this one night only musical theatre event to raise money for Braidwood following the summer bushfires.
“While many of us may have been inconvenienced by the recent fires, our friends, family, communities and the land and wildlife that we love has been dramatically impacted. Our intention is to make a difference,” promoter Bernie Ryan says.
“This is a unique opportunity to celebrate and showcase the breadth of talent and the generosity and community spirit that is at the heart of our local community theatre scene and, indeed, our community at large.”

The evening will also include special presentations and guest speakers who will share with us the difference we can make to those members of our community and our wildlife recently devastated by bushfires.
All funds raised through ticket sales and fundraising activities on the night will be split equally between the Braidwood Community Help Fund (administered by the Braidwood Life Centre) and the Native Animal Rescue Group.
Acts from some of your favourite musicals will include Oliver, Chess, 42nd Street, Chicago, Funny Girl, We Will Rock You, The Sound of Music, Catch Me If You Can and more.
The theatre companies coming together for Bushfire Recovery include the Canberra Philharmonic Society, the Canberra Repertory Society, the Cooma Little Theatre, Dramatic Productions, Free -Rain Theatre, Ickle Pickle Productions, Pee Wee Productions, Perform Australia, Phoenix Players, Supa Productions, Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council and Queanbeyan Players.

A range of local businesses have also donated generously to help stage the evening, as well as donating products and services which will be raffled and auctioned on the night.
There will be over $5000 in prizes from gift vouchers for items including massages, menswear, meals and children’s birthday parties, donated gift and homewares, tickets to local and professional theatre performances, family and corporate photography shoots with Hot Shots Photography, and tickets to The Little Prince at the Capitol Theatre in April with a night’s accommodation for four at the Oaks Castlereagh.
