Has anyone dined at the new Vietnamese Restaurant in Dickson (next door to Asian Noodle House)?

It’s called Tien Vietnamese Restaurant (located here).

I have tried to call them during the day but no answer. Maybe it’s only open evenings? It looks really modern and clean. I’d really like to try it.

Why does kevin22’s post come across like it should be read in a halting Asian accent – kinda like you might expect from somebody who runs a rival restaurant?

“I yell ‘Cartwright! Cartwright!’, just like that. Nobody came up, I hang up.”

I have to completely disagree with Kevin22 and Bloodnut. I think vietnamese food can most definitely be great – when done right it’s one of the best cuisines in the world.
And I had a fantastic experience at Tien. I think it’s better than Pho Phu Quoc based on the freshness of its ingredients.Although admitedly I haven’t yet tried their pho.
It’s one of my new favourite restaurants – although it’s not as good as the awesome Dickson Dumpling House!

No such thing as ‘great’ Vietnamese food, but with Pho Phu Quoc two doors away, why bother going somewhere new. It’s as good as Vietnamese can get.

Their laksa is no way near as good as next door at the Asian Noodle House

Laksa is not traditionally a Vietnamese dish so I would not think that it would be good.

I judge Vietnamese restaurant’s by their pho.

Can you still BYO bottles of soft drink to pearce Vietnamese?

It has been there forever. I wonder if it is still the same people running it. They did great spring rolls.

Afraid I have to disagree with Kevin22 about the food.

We ate their on Monday night and it was great! 😀

My partner and his mate had Pho. They said it wasn’t quite as good as Pho Phu Quoc’s Pho, but still tasty. I had salad with cold noodles, dipping sauce and pork mince. It was fantastic! Very fresh ingredients.

Really fast service and very friendly. I think it is worth a shot! Also agree with Kevin in saying that it will improve with time.

Planning on taking a Vietnamese friend there as well – see what they think.

If you want a good Vietnamese you cant go past the one at Pearce shops, I would say its the best i’ve tried in Canberra

We’ve dined there, the food is not very good. All i can say is, this is one of the worst Vietnamese Restaurant in Canberra. Also it little bit more expensive.
I think, if we give them more time and when they find the right Chef and adjust their pricing it will be a great restaurant.
