I think people forget that these grassroots protest groups are just ordinary people, fired up enough to try to do something. They are not organised groups, with existing resources and experience. Good on the organisers for getting something up and running.

I thought the organisers did and excellent job and the turnout was good, though I agree with you kenk that they could have used the internet more. That’s why I posted a picture of an early protest stall and the details of the rally on the RiotACT, hoping that some fo the Riotous might feel strongly enough to participate. I know the organisers did speak to the media (eg. ABC news carried a story this morning) but no internet campaign as far as I am aware. Maybe they learned their campaigning techniques in the days before internet, e.g. the Vietnam era. Maintain the Rage!

The rally was sell-attended but the organisers failed to use the internet. After I picked up a flyer on Thursday I sent it to every relevant address on both my fax list and my email address list. If everyone had done this the turnout may have been even bigger.
Also I wrote to Mr Hargreaves twice. If I had had the email address of the organosers I would have sent them copies. It is quite likely that my research into the report which triggered the colsure may have contained new information.

I like the idea of small local community facilities where people can meet up with other locals.
And I’ve worked in several places where everything was centralised, and we were told the remaining facilities would be bigger and better than all the small well used facilities they got rid of. Never seemed to turn out that way.

I like the idea of having fewer but bigger and better libraries.

Then again, i haven’t been in a library since i got the internet on at home…

Times are changing.

It won’t work.

Since when has stanhope listened to the people who voted him in?

Save your anger for the ballot box.
